The Met Costume Institute Gala has become by far the most anticipated fashion event of the year. Forget the Oscars with all the floor length, vulgar dresses and forget miscellaneous royal events with their more curious than just dress hats, it is in New York at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, it happens.
This makes it of course because the annual fashion show will be in close cooperation with American Vogue, which then also ensure that not just the guest list, but also the host list is completely top notch. Last year, Oprah Winfrey and Lady Gaga the portion of the case (exhibition theme was American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity), this year the theme is Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty and the hosts were no worse than the British darlings Stella McCartney and Colin Firth. Of course, all from Prime Minister Mrs. Sam-Cam and McQueen, chief designer Sarah Burton and topfotograf Mario Testino and IT Girl Blake Lively on hand to pay tribute to the late British designer (who nevertheless seem to be here, there and everywhere; later stood mark behind duchess Catherines wedding dress, for example).. In other words: The cream of the cream
